As an institution committed to training the Capital Region’s workforce, Hudson Valley Community College is proud to have partnered with GlobalFoundries (GF) for the past 14 years to advance our shared goals for the future of our region. Our relationship is built on collaboration, innovation and growth, and a vision for the educational and workforce demands of the future.
When GF opened its Malta facilities in 2010, Hudson Valley sent faculty to Dresden, Germany to learn how we could become a partner to help train students for jobs with GF here in the Capital Region. We collaborated to offer programs to train their workforce at our TEC-SMART facility in Malta, and became partners in GF’s registered apprenticeship program for employees, 第一个国家, multi-site registered apprenticeship program in the U.S. semiconductor industry. GF also supports students at our Clean Tech Early College High School, a partnership with the Ballston Spa Central School District that offers classes at TEC-SMART. The company’s employees serve on the college’s academic advisory boards, providing us with critical feedback on how we can continue to be the best workforce training partner we can be.
In 2021, Hudson Valley announced the creation of a new STEM Education Center and renovations to TEC-SMART that would transform the college’s Malta facilities into what is now HVCC North, and GF stepped up to provide support. 他们的500美元,000 gift created the GlobalFoundries Workforce Training and Apprenticeship Center, 用全新的, state-of-the-art labs and classrooms to support increased capacity in programs that GF has hired Hudson Valley graduates from for years, such as Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology, Electrical Construction and Maintenance, 机电一体化, Clean Energy Management and several others. In 2023, GF made a historic gift of $1 million toward the creation of a new Applied Technology Education Center (ATEC) on Hudson Valley’s Troy campus, which will further expand capacity in applied technology and skilled trades programs, including in semiconductor manufacturing.
Hudson Valley and GlobalFoundries continue to work together to secure grants and drive investment in our shared future from federal, state and other partners. 与美国.S.
